Work Experience

1. Chairman & CEO - NetEdge Tele-Solutions Pvt Ltd (NTS): (Dec’ 2004 till date).

  • NTS is in the business of developing mobile application and providing Telecom VAS and associated services as Application Services Provider(ASP) with latest and innovative solutions to GSM/ CDMA mobile Operators. It works through a number of SI and Outsourcing partners besides own development.
  • The company was setup from scratch, defining its Vision, Mission & Strategic Objectives and Business Goals. Created the entire organisation – structure, processes, people & practices. As a startup, I have to be closely involved in a wide range of role & responsibility managing within limited resources. Interacting with MDs, CEOs, other senior management to other concerned managers as well
  • Provided creative direction for solutions and business roadmap. Established market, customers, SI partners, oversaw service deliveries & operations.

  • NAVIN Commn. Inc, set up by Co founder of “Hotmail”, was into VAS products with “Tele-Power” as its leading voice based product. I was responsible for overall Business Operations including Tech services and delivery.
  • Successfully secured high profitability contracts at MTNL, BSNL, managed the deployment & operations for the new VAS.

3. Managing Director, Globacom Ltd., Nigeria (Jun – Dec’ 2003): Globacom Ltd. is the Second National Operator (SNO) of Telecom services for Nigeria.

  • I was responsible the ILD and NLD operations as independent Business Unit of Globacom group.
  • I set up the unit from scratch created the services structure & network. Created a well-defined management structure, systems & processes.
  • Established service contracts with Band Width providers, both satellite and Sea cables and ensured network setup.
  • Entered in to contracts with vendors (Alcatel, Intelsat, Schlumberger etc) domestic Telecom Operators (MTN, Econet etc) & International Carriers (T-Systems GmbH, Cables & Wireless UK etc) in record time to ensure smooth launch of services.
  • Managed a diverse team of multinational specialists from Germany, France, UK, South Africa, Middle East, and Asia, enthused high motivation & team spirit that the team achieved the goals remarkably well.

Telecom is the largest business vertical of TIL with special focus on niche technology in OSS, BSS domain. The key Operators / partners were MTNL, BSNL, Orange Ericsson, Motorola & other international groups. In addition, I was responsible for strategy planning, business development, technical support and customer relations with focus on large / strategic SI solutions & niche technology of the company.
  • Managed Billing & Customer Care solution for MTNL and saw it through with the customer.
  • Achieved highest business growth in Telecom & best of the relations with operators/ vendors alike.

6. Head of Project/CTO -GSM & Backbone Network: Tata Telecom Ltd. / Birla AT & T

  • This project was carried out in association with Ericsson India(ECI), for the GSM Operator Birla AT & T Ltd (now Idea Cellular). I was overall responsible for commissioning of access/ back network and integrating with GSM network for three large circles over a large geographical territory.
  • Transformed the group into a highly skilled & motivated team.

7. Consultant -World Bank Project (Nov’ 96 – Oct’ 97):I was Senior Consultant-Information System. Project was for setting up a nationwide for integrated Hydrological Information System. It included both Satellite & Terrestrial(FO) mw network. I was responsible for designing & monitoring the project for this nation wide communication network of leased lines, Microwave & satellite links.

8. Indian Air Force (Jan’ 73 to Oct’ 96 ) : Various roles/ positions spread over 20 years.

  • Dy/ Joint Director Projects- (Two & half Yrs) : End to end management of Radar, Communication, Telemetry and other sensitive and technically sophisticated –RFP creation, system evaluation, Global tendering, negotiations & contracts, project delivery etc, interacting with MNCs/ large Global Cos with contract value in of US $.100s of million.
  • Chief Technical Officer (Two Years) : Responsible for Operations & support Services of entire technical infrastructure viz. Communication Network, Radar, Computers & other support systems at a highly sensitive and large Air Defence Base. I was managing more than 300 engineers & technicians and providing Technical support to subordinate units spread over a wide geographic territory.
  • Head of Project (Two Yrs): Radar & Communications Network: Headed the project management for setting up a similar radar/ Communication network as described above covering a large territory in a difficult terrain in the north-east part of India.
